Questions & answers
Frequently asked questions
Why ServaRICA?
All our hardware is fully redundant to eliminate any single point of failure — including the most expensive components such as routers, switches and SAN storage switches. We manage our own multi-homed network (more than one internet provider, so a single carrier failure doesn't take users offline), and our storage system is fully redundant with redundant controllers and mirrored drives. We can also offer High Availability VM hosting that stays online even if the underlying server goes down.
What kind of content do you allow?
Any content considered legal in Canada is accepted, with these exceptions: adult/pornographic content (even legal) is not allowed; IRC servers (contact us — we may be permissive depending on the use case); public proxy servers (personal or company VPN/proxy is fine); and gambling-related sites.
How long does it take to deliver my product?
It depends on the order. Setting up a virtual server usually takes about 10 minutes, but some orders need a fraud-screening review by billing, which can take several hours.
Can I get a test IP to check ping to your servers?
Yes — use our test IP and looking glass at https://ping.servarica.com/
Can I test download speeds from your live system?
Sure. Use the Looking Glass at https://ping.servarica.com/ and our speedtest page at https://speedtest.servarica.net
What payment methods do you accept?
PayPal, Alipay, all major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard) and cryptocurrencies (Bitcoin, Ether, etc.). We can accept mailed checks and bank transfers for amounts over $200.
My payment method isn't listed — can you help?
If you can't use any of the listed methods, contact us — we may be able to help.
Where are your servers located?
We are a Canadian company and all our servers are hosted in Montreal, QC. This keeps us close to the US market while staying outside US data law (e.g. PRISM, the Patriot Act).
Do you have an SLA with your plans?
Yes. Monthly: 99.9%+ is normal operation; 99.0%+ = 15% refund; 97.0%+ = 30% refund; 95.0%+ = 50% refund; below 95% = 100% refund of monthly charges.
Does your Montreal data center use renewable energy?
Yes. Our data center draws 100% of its power from Hydro-Québec, which generates about 99% of its electricity from renewable sources (water dams). Our cooling also takes advantage of Canada's cold climate to reduce energy use.
Do you allow TOR nodes?
We allow TOR intermediate (relay) nodes, but not exit nodes.
